Not many of you know this, but I am crazy about singing. It has been a passion of mine for a long time. I always practice while driving. Ha, if you are in the Naples, FL area and you see a guy in a Scion rocking out, that is most likely me. I have always loved singing. I can't really remember a time where I wasn't. It's funny, but I realized how much I loved singing in so many instances. The other day my coworker was listening to his ipod at work. Not much going on there, but when I come in the next day with my ipod, I am singing out loud, and dancing. Funny!
I only listen to music that I can sing to. If the artist has awesome music, but he sucks at singing, I really can't listen. It's just a thing I have. Anyway, I don't really make my own music, I just record myself over the music of really talented artists. Recently, I have been trying to record some of Justin Timberlake's new music, but I can only get it when I am in my car. I think it is, because I am in an enclosed space, and the music is really loud. I've done some samples, but I'm never satisfied with it.
I've uploaded a sample of my singing. This song is from Panic! at the Disco. I'm not sure why I chose that song to sing, I guess just to see if I could.
What's up, Voxers. My name is Dennis, and I want to give a quick shout out to my good friend Alea for directing me to this fine piece of blog space. I had heard about Vox a long time ago through TechCrunch, but had long forgotten about it, and had to question Alea to even figure out what it was. I actually thought it was one of those annoying teen forums. What I am liking about Vox is the style. I have always been a big fan of Mena and Ben Trott's work. Movable Type was my favorite CMS of all the systems at the time. Once the pay thing came into effect, I moved to my current favorite, Wordpress. But it is okay that I moved to Wordpress, since I am still using too of Six Apart's services. Vox, and LiveJournal. Enough talk though.
I am still currently employed at Starbucks as a recreational thing. I have my own business with my best friend of several years. Our main source of income comes from that business. Starbucks is such a fun place to work, and of course, you meet the coolest people there. I have learned a lot from the people I have met, customers, and partners. I have never been happier. My passion for coffee at Starbucks shows. I am always making sure those drinks are to Starbuck's standards. A lot of it has to do with the customers getting the best cup of coffee, but the major reason I do this is because of the farmers and roasters. Every batch of coffee beans goes through a huge process and is tested five times in five different locations before it even gets bagged. Well, if the shot of espresso that I pull happens to be too long or too short, that can completely waste the roaster's time in making sure it is the best possible. Pretty interesting.
I am still in to computers as usual. I have three computers running in my bedroom right now, ha. Two computers and a notebook. The linux box in the closet is just a computer server, then the notebook which is hooked up to a monitor, and my main system. I use the linux box for connecting to my home computers while I am away from home. This helps keep my connection secure on open wireless networks. I am huge on security. Of course I am rambling.
I came to Vox to experiment with the system, and maybe get back in touch with the old Nova/Avon crew. Alea being one of them. She was a pretty fun person to talk to back in the day. It's nice to see she is still around and doing well.
I will keep updating from time to time. You can always check out my main blog at DDNet
